runaways

This collection is about classic cars—and what they have come to mean in the American film canon as a cinematic symbol of escape, freedom, and growing up. In films like American Graffiti and Rebel Without A Cause, suburban teens use the freedom of driving as an opportunity to escape their small, mundane lives, if only for as long as the motor is running. My own reflections on my experiences as a teen speeding down highways at night with my friends and wishing to live a life that was bigger than the one in front of me have informed both the sleek, bright colors reminiscent of 1950’s classic cars and soft knit textures that bring to mind the all-too-well-known nostalgia for adolescence and a simpler life.
